Montreal Bioinformatics Users Group

MonBUG (Montreal Bioinformatics Users Group) is an association of researchers, professionals and students in the greater Montreal area who have an interest in the field of bioinformatics.

Through monthly presentations we present our work, ask questions, share ideas, tips and tricks.

Meetings are held either at IRIC, the Institute for Research in Immunology and Cancer or at McGill university, and are free and open to all.

MonBUG is based on the highly successful VanBUG initiative.

Abstract :
In this talk, I will discuss the possibility that a potentially significant portion of cellular process regulation may be mediated by genomic sequences that need not be conserved across organisms. Evidence in support of this viewpoint comes from computational analyses as well as experimental work by us and by others. The ramifications of such findings for the onset and progression of disease will also be examined.
